Fort Morgan and Morgantown
Morgantown is a lovely, unique seaside community featuring two swimming pools, a kiddie pool, two lighted tennis/pickleball courts and several beach access boardwalks. When you first arrive, you'll notice pride of ownership in this pastel colored, beautifully landscape neighborhood. Guests really enjoy walking and biking along the quiet streets and many rent golf carts and enjoy sunset drives. If you have small children or just prefer the convenience of parking close to the beach, there is a public lot just to the west of Morgantown.
Located a scenic 15 miles from Gulf Shores, you'll find everything you need close at hand. Dollar General and Sassy Bass Market are just a few miles away and have all the basics you might need. There are several restaurants nearby offering a variety of tasty dishes. Tacky Jack's, Sassy Bass (2 locations), Coast and brand-new Jesse's (opening soon) to name a few. Some venues even offer live, local entertainment.
Fort Morgan fishing pier is now open, and anglers will have access to convenient inshore fishing and the abundant species locally available.
Be sure and visit nearby Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge with over 7,000 acres of coastal habit. You'll be able to hike through the preserve and observe local flora and fauna. There are 4 trails, varying in size and terrain, and you'll definitely want to make time to visit this natural oasis.

Great stay! The house was clean, spacious, and kid-friendly, just steps from a beautiful, quiet beach—even on a holiday. We had a small maintenance issue, but the host responded quickly and had it fixed the next day. Would definitely stay again! Thank you for the memories!

We had a group of 10 and loved our stay. The view is spectacular and we ALL so enjoyed being able to walk down the stairs and immediately walk onto the sand. There was plenty of room for all of us and it never felt crowded. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items for the meals we ate there. It was nice to have the chairs and beach toys and an area to wash off with the hose in the carport. The house is a 6 minute drive from a Dollar General which was helpful when there were items we needed. There are also several good restaurants close by. Our boys loved night crabbing, so I'd recommend bringing nets and headlamps for some after sunset fun. (We always let them go at then end of the evening.) We wouldn't have changed anything and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing and beautiful beachfront vacation rental.

We had a wonderful week even with some less than great weather. The lower deck provides a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to the surf. We saw dolphins every day and enjoyed the great variety of birds. Fishing just steps out the back door. This is a great house in a wonderful location. Very good communication from the care takers, no issues with anything.

This house is AMAZING. Second time we have stayed there. Will return.
***still highly recommend fixing the back stairs, the second step down is short and it would be VERY bad if someone got hurt on this- likely isn't up to code either. We mark it with chalk so everyone remembers to be careful.** It was also dirty this year, lots of sand in the house when we "moved in" and hair that wasn't ours. NO other complaints- we cleaned and then had a BLAST!

Silver Dunes West far exceeded my expectations. The location was great. The view could not be beat. Just a few steps from the beach. Plenty of room my family of 11. We visited Fort Morgan and the Zoo. We ate at Sassy Bass Amazing Grill, the food was tasty. We mostly hung out at the beach house or on the beach. The property manager introduced herself the first day never had that happen before. We had 2 hiccups that were fixed within hours. We will definitely stay here again.

The house is beautiful. The views and beach were fantastic. The only disappointing part of our stay was many of the windows would not open. The weather was perfect to enjoy the ocean breeze and sounds, but we were unable to open many of the windows in the living room and bedrooms. I absolutely love feeling the wind and hearing the waves and was very disappointed not being able to open the windows. Other than that our stay was great.

Hi Rick and thanks for the great feedback. We get it! There is nothing like listening to the sound of the surf. Unfortunately, open windows cause the air conditioners to over work and ultimately break down and depending on the weather, the "no see ums" are abundant. Also, open windows and doors also cause moisture to build up inside the house and that creates problems as well. For all these reasons, we advise against keeping the windows and doors open. Despite that, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay!

We enjoyed the house very much, the location and walking right out to the beach was fantastic! The staff was super friendly to helpful with an early check in that was very much appreciated. We were a little short on bath towels and forks for a house to accommodate 12 people and the cookware could use a little updating, but overall everything was functional and pleasant. I would stay here again, definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved how easy it was to walk straight out to the beach! Just steps from the back door. We got to spend more time on the beach since we weren’t having to wait for elevators and walking through multiple gates like past vacations. The view from the balcony is stunning & we loved sitting on the nice outdoor Polywood chairs. The management company was fantastic and let us in an hour early because we arrived into town. So nice of them so we could get unpacked and start enjoying before dinner. If there could be just 1 improvement it would be a fresh coat of paint on walls & baseboards. The rest of the home has been upgraded with beautiful furniture & kitchen, fresh paint would just set it all off to perfection. Thank y’all for a wonderful stay at this beautiful home! We absolutely loved staying here! Definitely the most relaxing vacation I have ever had because of that stunning view and ease of walking right out to the beach.

We loved staying at Silver Dunes West. The house was spacious and comfortable for our group of 6 women. We loved the close access to the beach and the remote feeling of Fort Morgan. We would love to stay here again for our girls trip!
Our only two complaints about our experience were:
1. The A/C unit seemed to be old and we were unable to turn it below 72 degrees, so the house was not as cool as we would have liked it and would get stuffy in the afternoons.
2. The internet was very slow. Since there was not great phone service in Fort Morgan, we had to rely on wifi quite a bit. The wifi could not handle 6 guests trying to use it. Streaming on the tv was also slow at times due to this.
Just wanted to mention it in case these items could be improved before we stayed here again!

We will send a note over to our maintenance department regarding the Air Conditioning and ask that they make sure it is operating properly. We do ask that guests not set the thermostat below 72 degrees because the units tend freeze up and stop working entirely. Most guests find this setting comfortable so perhaps there is an issue with the unit. Internet service is an ongoing challenge in our coastal community. Perhaps you noticed the Secure Vision trucks in the neighborhood? Morgantown is in the process of getting fiber service and some homes have already been converted. So, for your next visit to Morgantown, you will likely experience much better service!

Loved being right on the beach/ocean. No need to haul a wagon full of beach items everyday. I also loved the fact that we could keep our sun tent up overnight on the beach. Perfect location! Quiet/low key and not crowded like other public beaches in Gulf Shores. House was amazing! It had all of the necessities and was very clean. Property manager stayed in touch before, during, and after our stay to ensure we were satisfied and everything was meeting our expectations. Would highly recommend this property.
